Locarno publishes good books — reportage and creative nonfiction on subjects that matter, plus the very best local, international and translated fiction
Locarno Press is an ambitious new publishing house founded in 2017 by Scott Steedman and Dimiter Savoff. We publish vital, innovative fiction and non-fiction books, distributed across North America.
Locarno is interested in big ideas and original writing. We look for the boldest, brightest, most beguiling storytellers and publish books with Canadian, European and Australian links. We focus on creative fiction and non-fiction and some illustrated titles, notably art. Uniting our list is a focus on great design, and ideas that surprise, challenge and enthrall.
Locarno Press’s ambitions match its founders’ expansive careers: the two principals have lived and worked on four continents and share more than five decades of publishing experience.
Scott Steedman is publishing consultant with three decades’ experience who has worked for some of the world’s largest publishing houses. His roles include Editor at Dorling Kindersley, London; Senior Editor at Larousse, Paris; Editorial Director, Non-Fiction at Raincoast Books, Vancouver; and Associate Publisher at Douglas & McIntyre, Vancouver. A fluent French speaker, he is a professor in the Publishing department at Simon Fraser University.
Dimiter Savoff is Founder and CEO at Simply Read Books [insert link], an international publishing house that has published more than 200 titles and won dozens of awards. Rights to Simply Read books are sold across the globe.
